Sixth Form

Sixth Form

The Sixth Form at The Cedars offers unparalleled opportunities for personal and intellectual growth in a stimulating and supportive environment.

Our Sixth Formers play an integral role in the life of the school and are expected to act as role models and exercise leadership in a wide range of curricular and co-curricular contexts.

We see an intrinsic link between leadership and service. All our boys are expected to take part in service projects in school and the wider community and be actively involved in extra-curricular activities such as music, sport, debating, and other clubs.

From September 2024, A level subject teaching will be shared with our sister school, The Laurels, which is situated on the same campus.

Having benefitted from a single-sex education in their formative years, co-educational classes will widen boys' academic perspectives and prepare them for university life and the world of work. And, since pastoral care, the Tutorial System, and aspects of RSE will remain single-sex, boys joining the Sixth Form will have the best of both worlds.

Boys are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and to show initiative in taking part in and organising enrichment activities. There are opportunities to engage in research and to deepen knowledge of areas of interest through co-curricular projects.

Boys and girls joining The Cedars and The Laurels Sixth Form in September 2024 will benefit from a new course of formation that will build upon but extend the Eudaimonia and Arete courses offered in each school.

Academic Criteria for Entry

We require a minimum of six grades at Grade 6 and at least a grade 7 in each of the subjects to be studied at A level, as well as grade 7 or above in English and Maths where required.
